I've added some info on the front page of my site as to how scheduling will be handled now. Having Jayme handle my scheduling will make it so that I can get more done in a day... and these days lately have been quite the handful for me to manage! I'm sure many of us wish there was more hours in a day! eeep! |

Once again, Steve Peace and crew put on a great tattoo show out in Calgary for the labour day weekend. Talking to other tattooers at that show, they all agree, Calgary convention (www.calgarytattoos.com)is one of the Greats in North America! I've never worked in a convention as large as that! I really doubt that there will ever be another that large in Canada! It was fantastic! It had substance! The crowd was entertained and the artists were treated by the show runners with much respect! No short cuts were made by the show in regards to making those who bought booth space happy! Thank You Steve... your successful efforts don't go un-noticed. Keep doing what you're doing and I'll keep returning year after year! It's nice to see a show runned by people who care and give back to those that are making it happen! Pictures and such are to follow soon... once I settle in and unpack my tattoo shit that is! ... Mo |

Here is an interesting email that I just recently recieved that I thought I should make public...
"Dude, considering your quality of work, you talk too much about things you are not qualified too. Get your head down and your mouth shut and maybe one day you\'ll be able to do a decent tattoo. in the meantime.. shut up."
My response to this person who writes me emails in hiding is that I've never claimed to be a qualified voice in the realm of tattooing. The things I talk about are based on my own experiences and research. I've always been welcome to recieve any disagreements with anything that I might have stated. However, you have stated nothing. You are entitled to your opinion on the quality of my work however unconstructive it may be. If you don't like what I have to say it does not mean that I should shut up. What it means is that maybe keyboard samurais such as yourself should just look elsewhere for thier information and not return. Thank you. |

As you probably have already noticed I've begun rebuilding ChrisMonizDotCom. It's something I'm doing on my own for the sake of making the site simpler and looking better. Changes are slow as I dedicate most of my time to my work as a tattooer. I would really value your input on it so far. Also if you see any errors as you peruse the site, I would like to know about them too! please leave a comment here... you can do so anonamously as well. Cheers!
oh yeah... if you know of anything out there online that can make my site better... please let me know that too! |

This is a pin-up tattoo that I custom designed which was inspired by the art of Joe Capobianco. This photo shows the linework session completed.

Below are some pictures of tattoos that I have done in my new tattoo room in my apartment. Eventually I will post pictures of the room itself on my website so that people can see the condition of the room as well as my autoclave sterilizer as well as other necessities that are typically found in a tattoo shop.

I’m now tattooing full-time at home for the time being. Electric Tattoo shut down recently and I’m going on my own. I have a fully equipped room dedicated just to tattoos. By leaving Electric tattoo, I now have freed up time for anyone interested in getting some work done. I’m in Toronto at the Danforth and Main area (near Main subway station). Check out my portfolio at www.chrismoniz.com then give me a shout… 416-277-8936. Eventually, I will be looking into getting a couple of shifts at a street shop. I’ll post again when I do! Cheers! … mo

Rev. Matt Ellis of Waycool Uptown is going to take over where others have left off on my right forearm sleeve. I have to say that I really like the way he's approaching the colour. Matt sure knows how to handle my balls!
So.... there are those of you who do wonder about who tattoos tattoo artists... Matt is one!

| » Shakers |
So I got truly entertained by two fabulous women! A mother and daughter came to me with a uniquely fantastic idea for a tattoo...... Salt and Pepper shakers! The specific shakers they got have been in thier family for some time and hold much sentimental value. It also happens that thier first names start with an 's' and a 'p' like salt and pepper. Very creative! They both got them on thier forearms so that they become a matching pair everytime they hold hands.

Below is a smaller tattoo I did at the show. He wanted a tribal design that subtely looked like two fish (commonly associated with pisces).. not everyone can actually see how there's two fish in the design but once you see them, you wouldn't be able to look at them as not being fish!
That was followed by doing this custom angel design on the back of a calf...

| » Calgary... now that's a tattoo town! (the beginning) |
The Calgary Tattoo Convention... just wicked... probably one of the best shows on the planet! Steve Peace et al made yet another convention weekend in Calgary my dream come true! It was incredibly busy and I booked up people for the weekend instantly! I was so tired from being busy that I didn't even remember the plane ride home! Here it is folks... pictures from the Calgary tattoo convention!
May first client was 6 hours of tattooing to complete a forearm...
Below is a picture of what he had before I got to it... there is some marker from where I was plotting my own direction for what I was going to transform his arm into. I did not touch the female figure on his arm but I did retouch the cross and hand so as to make his arm match and become a complete forearm.
... and so I went to work...
Below is my first client's finished tattoo...

MORE TO COME!!!

| » What's up with this guy?!?! why hasn't he updated?!?! |
Busy as hell!!! I now have 216 photos to sort through on my computer and probably another 100 more this weekend. Posting is lower on my totem pole of things to do. Tattoo appointments and the drawings I have to design for them are at the top of my list. In the last while, I've also had to adapt to working in a new shop and now my apartment is ass backwards and upside down as I'm getting ready to move out. Working downtown at Electric Tattoo has been a great experience so far and I've grown to be quite comfy there. I'll be moving out of Pickering and into the Victoria Park and Danforth area. Tonite, my wife and I are heading out to Calgary to do the tattoo convention out there. Stop by the booth and say hi if you happen to be there! We'll be flying back on tuesday and I'll be back to work at Electric Tattoo on wednesday. I hope everyone has a great weekend! See you when I get back! If you need to call I'll have my phone... 416-277-8936 Cheers! ... mo

This is an ongoing coverup where the stars are the only thing that's going to stay... recently I did the flame and background of the sacred heart in the middle of her chest. The swallows were done at a previous time.

A sleeve of hands...

A Boris Painting being reproduced on skin. There is some modifications to the original which actually has two bat wings... my version has one feathered wing.
